Q: Why are we introducing this new technology? This new technology supports the Experience of a Lifetime by combining world-class instruction with innovative technology. Built from feedback from guests, instructors, and Ski & Ride School leaders, these enhancements provide a smoother arrival experience, greater visibility into lesson progress, and an easier way for families to relive and share their day. The technology also gives instructors and leaders a centralized, real-time hub for managing lesson information and delivering a more connected guest experience. Q: What's the difference between Lesson Connect and Ski & Ride School in My Epic?
- Lesson Connect is the instructor and leadership application used to manage lessons, class rosters, skill progression, lesson reviews, photos, and guest information.
- Ski & Ride School in My Epic is the guest-facing experience where guests and parents can view lesson information, progress updates, achievements, photos, and lesson summaries.

- Enhancements to leadership functionalities and reports
- Additional refinements based on feedback from employees and guests

Q: Is the Lesson Connect app required for instructors? - Yes, the expectation for instructors at participating resorts will be to use the Lesson Connect app for all child and adult group lessons.
Q: How will instructors be supported with devices usage? Will instructors be compensated for using personal devices? - BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Stipend:
- If you choose to use your own device for the season, the stipend is $35.00 USD after tax per qualifying calendar month.
- 5 Lesson Connect enabled group lessons in a calendar month to qualify
- Device must meet device technical requirements for app functionality
- There will be company devices available for instructors who do not have eligible devices, or who choose not to enroll in the BYOD Stipend program
- More details and specifics on the BYOD Stipend will be sent to you in October
Q: How should instructors handle unreliable Wi-Fi, cold weather, or low batteries? - Our company’s investment in this innovative technology has included improving and expanding Wi-Fi across our mountains and in key Ski & Ride School areas
- The app is designed to use low-energy Bluetooth technology, minimizing battery consumption while allowing instructors to access all other device functions seamlessly, even when running in the background

Q: Are skill progressions based on lesson levels 1–9 or green/blue/black zones? - The skill progressions are based on a student’s journey progressing through levels (1-9), viewed through a skills-focused lens
- This means students will be able to view their progress through the specific skills you’ve taught them
Q: How do skill progressions work? - Skill progressions track the specific skills a student is learning as they move through Ski & Ride School lessons
- Guests can view:
- Each skill will be identified as: Not started-> In Progress -> Completed
- Visualization of progress through beginner-intermediate- advanced learning zones
- Previous lesson history from all SRS in My Epic enabled Vail Resorts mountains
- Recommended next lesson placement
Q: What is the difference between "In Progress" and "Completed"? - In Progress
- The student is actively developing the skill and continues to practice it.
- Completed
- The student demonstrates consistent ownership of the skill and is ready to focus on new skill development
Q: What if a student's skill progression needs to be adjusted? - Instructors can adjust skill progression when necessary to accurately reflect a student's current ability level and learning needs
- As always, instructor judgment and guest conversations remain important parts of the learning experience

Q: What does the guest experience look like (before, during, after)? - Before the lesson, guests can view upcoming lesson details, complete digital check-in requirements, and access student specific information in the My Epic app
- During the lesson, they may receive photos, progress updates, and lesson duration notifications as their Ski & Ride School experience unfolds
- After the lesson, guests can review a post-lesson summary that includes photos, skill progression, achievements, and skill advice for future lessons
Q: How are achievements earned? - Many achievements are automatically generated through activities recorded in Lesson Connect, including:
- Lift usage
- Terrain exploration
- Skill progression updates
- Lesson participation
- Resort-specific milestone tracking
Q: Can guests share photos with friends and family? - Yes
- The Ski & Ride School experience in My Epic app will allow the guest to download and share lesson photos via text, email, and social media
Q: Is there a way to opt out of photos? - Yes
- Guests can opt out of lesson photos, and those preferences should always be respected
- Guest profiles will show that they have opted out of photos
- Photos are stored securely within the platform and are not saved directly to instructor’s devices
