Trainer Pathway
Becoming a Trainer in the Stowe Ski and Ride School
For the 2024/2025 season we will be introducing formalized guidelines to become a trainer in the Stowe Ski and Ride School. Eligibility is based on PSIA/AASI certification. Minimum certification requirements are outlined in the tables below.
Trainer Verification Process
Candidates achieving the minimum required PSIA/AASI certification are eligible to be verified as a trainer. Trainer candidates are verified through completing two official understudies, and one official overstudy verification- to be completed by a veteran trainer.
Understudies serve as an opportunity for trainer candidates to observe a veteran trainer conduct an on-snow session. Once two understudies are completed an elective training will be assigned along with an overstudying veteran trainer. The overstudying trainer must verify that the candidate is ready to lead sessions independently. Additional steps may be required. Verification as a trainer is at the discretion of the Training Manager. Being verified as a trainer does not guarantee you will be booked as a trainer. Trainings are assigned based on trainer credentials and the needs of our staff.
Understudy Process
If you wish to understudy a training email ben.debenedictis@vailresorts.com and CC your POD leader with the elective training session you wish to understudy (this must be approved in order to count as an official understudy). Your role as an understudy is to observe the clinician and contribute to the training as directed by the clinician. You must also fill out the Understudy Submission Form.
